The 5 big design trends of the Salone del Mobile in Milan

… and how they can be realized with Profol’s cast PP film.

Milan’s Design Week and Salone del Mobile exhibition at the beginning of June in 2022 are indispensable top events when it comes to furniture design. In addition to furniture dealers and designers, material suppliers were also present looking for confirmation and inspiration for current and future trends.

The joy and aspiration of the trade fair participants to be able to meet and exchange ideas in person again after such a long time was clearly noticeable. But also the design trends seem to be influenced by the pandemic. People are striving for more comfort and more details in their furniture and surroundings – inspired by nature.

These needs were addressed across all living areas, from the living room to the kitchen to the bathrooms, with the nature as the greatest inspiration for design creations. Also metallic tones as a design element on furniture and furnishings are prevalent.

Regarding the surface design of furniture, there is a trend towards stone, marble or wood design. Whether horizontal or vertical, marble and stone can be found everywhere, on fronts, carbinets or boiserie. While the finish of plain furniture is predominantly in super matt, large and deeply grooved embossments are dominating the stone and wood look. The combination of all three trends will define the design in the near future.
